
Deacon Michael Bakker
Deacon Michael was born in 1966. After school he studied at the Slavic
Department of the University of Amsterdam, where he received the title of
PhD with the dissertation "Towards a Critical Edition of the Old Slavic New
Testament". The dissertation was based on a previously unknown Slavic New
Testament manuscript, discovered by Fr. Michael on Mount Athos.
In 1986 he
joined the parish, also serving as president of the Fellowship of Orthodox
Youth in the Netherlands. In December 2008 he was ordained to the
deaconhood by Archbishop Simon of Brussels and Belgium.
Fr. Michael is married with Alexandra Bakker; they
have three children. In his daily life, we works as consultant.
