Deacon Michael Bakker

Deacon Michael was born in 1966. After school he studied at the Slavic Department of the University of Amsterdam, where he received the title of PhD with the dissertation "Towards a Critical Edition of the Old Slavic New Testament". The dissertation was based on a previously unknown Slavic New Testament manuscript, discovered by Fr. Michael on Mount Athos.

In 1986 he joined the parish, also serving as president of the Fellowship of Orthodox Youth in the Netherlands. In December 2008 he was ordained to the deaconhood by Archbishop Simon of Brussels and Belgium.

Fr. Michael is married with Alexandra Bakker; they have three children. In his daily life, we works as consultant.
